A Neighbourhood Guide to Islington
From the independent shops of Upper Street to the quieter residential streets beyond, discover the details that give Islington its distinctive character.

Islington is one of those London neighbourhoods that rewards a slower look. Behind the energy of Upper Street sit some of the city’s most handsome Georgian squares, quiet canal paths and a strong sense of community.
Upper Street and Camden Passage
Upper Street is the neighbourhood’s spine, lined with restaurants, theatres and independent shops. Step off it into Camden Passage and you will find antique dealers, small cafés and a Wednesday and Saturday market that has been trading for decades.
Green spaces
Highbury Fields is the area’s largest open space and a favourite for weekend walks, tennis and picnics. The Regent’s Canal towpath offers a calm route east towards Hackney or west towards King’s Cross.
Living here
Homes range from Georgian terraces around Canonbury and Barnsbury to well-designed apartments close to Angel. Our team can help you understand which streets suit your routine, from school runs to commutes.
